The Practice Nurses provide the following services :-

• Chronic disease management - routine review appointments for the following conditions :-
  • asthma
  • COPD
  • diabetes
  • heart disease
  • stroke
  • epilepsy
  • mental health conditions
• Cervical smears
• Contraception advice and prescriptions.
• Immunisation
• Smoking Cessation programmes
• Weight management and dietary advice
• Spirometry
• Dressings
• Suture removal.

Health Care Assistants

The Health Care Assistants provide the following services:-

• Blood tests
• Blood pressure monitoring
• ECG
• Smoking cessation programmes
• Weight management and dietary advice
• New patient health checks

Special Services and Clinics 

MINOR SURGERY

Several of our doctors offer minor surgery at the practice including injection of joints, removal of skin lesions / moles and cautery of skin lesions. One of our healthcare assistants offers a cryotherapy service for verrucas / warts. To access these services you will first need an appointment with a GP.

BABY CLINIC

We run a service to offer 8 week checks for newborns and routine vaccinations to babies and young children. This runs every Tuesday afternoon. Please book at reception. For vaccination schedule follow this link vaccination schedule.

ANTE-NATAL CLINIC

We have a designated midwife who will see pregnant ladies for routine ante-natal check ups every Thursday morning and every second Tuesday morning for new booking appointments. Patients can be referred by a GP or self refer by asking at reception.

PHYSIOTHERAPY CLINIC

We have a designated physiotherapist who will see patients Clinics every Wednesday morning. Patients must be referred by a GP.

COUNSELLING

We have a designated mental health counsellor who will see patients every Wednesday morning and every Friday morning. Patients can be referred by a GP or self-refer by telephoning the Mental Health Team (0161 2310017).

ALCOHOL COUNSELLING

We have a designated alcohol worker who runs clinics every Thursday afternoon. Patients can be referred by a GP or self-refer by asking at reception or telephoning the Community Alcohol Team (0161 8821300). 

DRUG CLINIC

We have designated drug workers who run clinics every Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. Patients can be referred by a GP or self refer please ask at reception or phone the appropriate telephone number (follow link on lower right hand side).

SMOKING CESSATION

Our Nurses and Healthcare assistants run 'stop smoking' programmes for our patients and are able to advise on methods of stopping smoking and also prescribe a range of medications to help with the process. Please book in at reception. For further information follow these website links

WEIGHT MANAGEMENT

 Our Healthcare assistants run 'weight management' programmes for our patients and are able to advise on diet and lifestyle measures to help lose weight. Occasionally medications can be prescribed to help this process. Please ask at reception for an appointment.

Travel Vaccinations

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements.  This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.

It is important to make the initial appointment as early as possible  - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travelto allow the vaccines to work.
