From Monday 19th July -:

A Face Covering is still mandatory prior to admission to the surgery.  The guidance from NHS England confirms people must still wear a face mask in healthcare settings.

If you require a GP appointment you will still have a telephone consultation first and if you need to be seen in person the GP will book you in.  Please advise the doctor of any Covid-19 symptoms you have.

Please, where possible, come alone and wear a face covering.  We will take the necessary steps to make sure the practice is safe for you to visit.

Prescription requests can be posted through the letterbox, ordered on-line or ordered through your pharmacy.

We are experiencing a very high demand in telephone calls at the moment and you may have to wait to be answered so if you are phoning for results or querying referrals etc please telephone after 11.00am.  We cannot make appointments or deal with queries via the intercom at the front door.

We appreciate your patience and support during these difficult times.

Covid 19 Vaccination update

Anybody with symptoms of cough, high temperature or shortness of breath, even if these are mild, should remain at home and contact NHS111 website for help.  DO NOT COME INTO THE SURGERY.

Do we have your correct contact details.  We are trying to contact patients by their mobile no., rather than post, to inform them of results, appointments, etc.  Please complete the on-line services form to update your details.  Thank you.

Appointment DNAs (Did Not Attend) Policy

We understand that it is not always possible to attend booked appointments. However, should you be unable to attend a booked appointment, we appreciate it if you could contact the surgery to cancel. This would allow us to offer the appointments to other patients. Due to an increasing number of DNAs causing large numbers of wasted appointments within the practice, patients who fail to attend or fail to cancel 3 appointments within a continuous 12 month period, will be removed from the practice list. The practice will write to the patients who fail to attend their first and second appointments.

Patient Online Access

Patient online access is now available. Please visit Do It Online for more information about how to register to book appointments and order prescriptions online. Alternatively, ask our receptionists for the necessary forms to register for online access.

Struggling for an appointment?

Extended hours Doctor and Nurse appointments are available 7 days a week through Northern Health GPPO Ltd. To book, please contact Valentine Medical Centre.

Valentine Medical Centre is a trainee practice

Valentine Medical Centre has completed a rigorous process of quality improvement and additional training within the practice. As a result of this we are now accredited to supervise junior doctors and contribute to their education and training. These junior doctors will be seeing patients at Valentine Medical Centre. They will be attached to one of our GP partners and fully supported. If any support is needed during or following the consultation the supervising GP partner will be immediately available on the telephone or to physically “pop in"

As a patient, before accepting an appointment with a junior doctor, you will be informed of the doctors training status and we will only complete the appointment booking with your full consent. Appointments available with our junior doctors are in addition to the usual number of daily appointments offered by our GP partners.

Dr. Donald Clegg

It is with great sadness that the practice announces the death of Dr. Donald Clegg, on 26th February 2018, age 66 years. Don was an extremely popular and much-loved GP who worked at the practice from 1981 until 2011, when he retired after 30 years serving at Valentine House and then Valentine Medical Centre. Don was an excellent clinician but it was his warm and friendly personality, sense of humour and concern for his patients that made him such a well-respected and much loved doctor in the area.
